This post is for all of my FRIENDORS! I see you working hard at those Bridal Shows - unloading your car, setting up your booth, standing for hours talking to attendees, then breaking down your booth and loading your car. It's hard work! I want to help you prevent injury and pain with a few easy stretches you can do while standing at your Bridal Show Booth.
UPPER TRAP STRETCH:
This is the most common stretch I prescribe for neck pain and HEADACHES. Tension headaches are easy to prevent, if you start stretching those tight muscles BEFORE they get angry. In the events industry, it's really common to overuse your traps when loading and unloading your gear, driving, and even during static standing. Let your shoudlers relax away from your ears while your standing at your Bridal Show Booth, and do this stretch in between conversations with attendees.
HIP FLEXOR (PSOAS) STRETCH:
It is so counterintuitive to stretch the front of your hip when it's your back that hurts, but I PROMISE this will help prevent and eliminate mid back and low back pain. The psoas is a powerful muscle that attaches onto the front of your spinal column. It can create torque from your midback all the way down to your low back if it's tight. Take a guess at the things that make it tight...driving, bending/lifting, static standing. All the things we do as event and wedding vendors on the day of a Bridal Show! I do this stretch everyday when I brush my teeth (yep I really do!) and especially after long periods of sitting or standing. It's super easy to do while standing in your Bridal Show Booth (or even in line at Safeway...ahem)
WRIST FLEXOR STRETCH:
Gripping. It's what we do. All that loading and unloading and setting up for a Bridal Show Booth. It takes a toll on our hands, wrists and forearms. This stretch will help! Gripping uses your wrist and finger flexors, but doing this stretch will help keep things loose so you can keep your grip strength with less pain. The show must go on!
